Buddha's at the "Barber!!!"

Lately, Scooty's hair had been getting a wee bit unruly. His "peacock feathers", as we like to call them, had started to fluff up a tad too much, especially after he had been sleeping. So, yesterday Bailey decided to give Weston's hair a little trim...

It all started out innocently enough, with Weston sitting cooperatively in his Uncle Brenner's lap, patiently letting his Mommy do her thing with the comb and scissors.

Before too long, however, Scooty Bug was quite obviously losing his enthusiasm for the whole gig - ha!

Yep, DEFINITELY no longer fun!

Cooking Lessons With Granny!

I love to cook. Weston loves to watch. It's the perfect combination!!!

Today it was time to restock all the homemade baby food supply. So, Scoots and I got to work!
We peeled, chopped, steamed and pureed like crazy! It's so fun to talk to Weston about everything that I do and to listen to him respond to me with his precious little coos! He is already very accustomed to all the "sounds" in my kitchen and doesn't even flinch when I bang pots around or turn on the food grinder. He just sits on the counter in his bouncy chair as happy and content as can be with whatever cooking gadget I hand to him to investigate - he's such a good boy!

By the time we finished, we had a full load of pears, peaches, sweet potatoes, peas, bananas and cinnamon apples all ready for Scooty Bug and we even had time to whip up a couple of batches of yummy chicken tettrazini too! Thanks for all your help today, my Little Chef Licious!

Jump & Go!

Yippee! Weston has a brand new toy from his Granny!!! It's an Evenflo Jump & Go! It's a cool little contraption that hooks onto a door frame and Weston can jump around in it as much as his little heart desires!

Right now, he's still a rookie. But, I'm sure it will only be a matter of time until he REALLY gets that thing a'goin'!

He already loves the toy bar with all of its lights and sounds!

I just love it that he loves it!!!

Auntie Robin!

WOO HOO! The mailman brought us a package from Auntie Robin today! And, for those of you who may not know, a package from Auntie Robin ALWAYS contains some of the best surprises EVER!

Truer words were never spoken! I adore this sweet little note set that Robin selected for me.
In case you can't read it well from the picture, it says, "You never know how much love your heart can hold until you have Grandkids." Instead of repeating yet again just how crazy, over the top, to the moon and back in love I am with Weston, let's just say that I so totally "get" the meaning of those words, ya know?!

OK, now let's move on to these little doozies.......I mean, seriously, how fun are they???? Address labels with 2 of my "favoritest" things in the whole world on them - dachshunds (in honor of my sweet Spritey) and "Granniness" (in honor of my sweet Scooty Bug) AACCKK! Squeal! Soooo flippin' excited over these guys I can hardly stand it! Only, only, only, ONLY Robin would think of something this cool. She totally rocks.

And, don't think for even one little minute that Weston was left out of the fun, no siree! Here he is digging into HIS first surprise!

And holding yet another! Books!!!! One Curious George counting book and one super fun Dallas Cowboys book. I love reading to Weston and can't wait to add these to our collection!

Ummmm.......Did I Miss The Cold Front???

So, this is how Scoots shows up at my house this morning when Brian drops him off. Hmmmm,
it is the middle of July and, last time I looked, it was blazing hot outside soooo.......what's up with the long sleeves and socks???

Bailey says she's afraid Lish will get cold at night because Brian turns the air down so low. Personally, I think she is just FREAKING out because all of the winter clothes that we bought him aren't even gonna come close to fitting him come winter time considering that we bought them in the size he is wearing now................HA! Whichever version of the story is correct, I don't care cuz my Scooty Bug was EXTRA delicious in his cold weather wear!!! I love you my little snowman!

He Did It!!!

Over the past few weeks, Weston has been trying to get EVERYTHING into his mouth. For the most part, he could only chew on his hands. Slowly but surely, however, he has learned how to grab onto his toys and MUNCH em'!!!

It all starts innocently enough...

Then he inspects everything really well to see which toy looks the tastiest...

Once the decision has been made...

He makes his move..............

Until STOP!!! Enough with the pictures, Granny!!!

So I promise to stop after just this one last shot of sweet Harper giving Scoots a congratulatory kiss for a job well done. She was SOOOOO excited when he finally got the toys up to his precious little mouth! She kept saying, "Good job, Wesson!" Love.

Movin' Up!

Indeed, Weston is movin' up.............to a bigger bathtub - or at least we've moved his little bathtub into the bigger bathtub...cuz that boy can SpLaSh LiKe CrAzY!!!

Today, Scoots had his first bath within a bath! He loved it! He got to kick like a wild man without so much as a single fuss from me! He was soooooooo cute in there, just loving his freedom to splash as he pleased!

He just LOVES his yellow rubber ducky.............

despite having a gazillion other bath toys to choose from! I'm sure it won't be long before we move from this bathing method to ditching the little bathtub altogether.......sniff, sniff!

Feeling Better!!!

Wanna know why that sweet little grin on Weston's face makes me even happier than usual today???

Cuz my precious Scooty Bug has been a little bit under the weather for the past few days and I'm so glad that he is feeling better! He hasn't really been sick, just not quite himself - a tad cranky, not as interested in his bottle, sleeping less etc. He never had a fever or runny nose, but Bailey took him to the pediatrician yesterday just to be on the safe side. She said his nasal passages were swollen and he had congestion in his little head. Poor Scooty - his first touch of a cold.

Mornings...

This Granny is most definitely NOT a morning person.........to say the very least. Once I get up for the day, it takes me a good hour or so, along with several cups of coffee to fully gain consciousness and become human. Thankfully, Scooty Bug and Harper are tuned in to my "non-morningness" and also like to just "chill" when the day is new.

Here's precious Weston just hanging out watching cartoons with Shiner Shea. Cartoons sure aren't what they used to be.................gone are the days of The Roadrunner outsmarting Wiley Coyote; no more are kids treated to the antics of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Tweety; the Pink Panther is nowhere to be seen - heck, these days you can't even find a Scooby snack! I miss those guys. Cartoons, in my opinion, have gone WAAAAAY down hill. The best example of that is the dreaded Dora the Explorer. That bilingual, shrimpy monster is my nemesis, I tell ya. A person can truly lose their mind listening to her repeat the same, d*mn thing over and over and over and OVER!!!!!! If you've seen it, you're totally with me right now and fully understand why I want to knock her out after hearing her dumb jingles, say, eleventy times!!! Kids, on the other hand, for some unbeknownst reason, love that mop-topped oversized headed creature. Here is a prime example....................

Harper..............................in a Dora-induced trance.............ugh.

The really cute thing was that Harper looked over at Weston lounging with Shiner and said to me, "Harper hold Wesson?" Melt. She loves my Scoots - and he so loves her!

How freakin' cute is that?????????????????? I'll endure dumb Dora anyday just to see this sweet friendship. Ahhhhhhh.....................I so love these two!

Holiday Weekend

We had quite a busy 4th of July weekend! Scooty's Aunt Eileen came to Fort Worth from San Antonio for a visit. It was such a special treat to spend time with her and for her to get to see our precious Weston in action. On Saturday, we just hung out, chatting and catching up. In the evening, we went to Joe T's for dinner. It was delicious and the setting was beautiful!



Sunday was POOL DAY! Just look at my patriotic little swim bug! Bailey, Brian, Weston, Uncle Brenner, Aunt Eileen, "Uncle" Jordan, "Uncle" Jim, "Aunt" Pat, Andy, Nikki, Peyton Grandpa and I had such a fun day! The weather was very nice - not nearly as hot as it has been lately.

Here is little Peyton trying to get her clutches onto my Scoots! I'm sure glad that he isn't looking too thrilled now because, one day, I know that he will be WAY more appreciative of girls - especially hazel-eyed, lashes a mile long beauties like sweet Peyton - AAAGGGHHH!!!

Some of our gang just chillin in the pool. After an afternoon of lounging, we headed back to our house for a delicious dinner of brisket (courtesy of "Uncle" Jim), burgers, hot links, potato salad, beans and fruit salad - yum! We concluded the evening........and a wee bit into the next morning with great conversation, dart games, and Jordan and Brian entertaining us on the guitar. Thanks to everyone for making Weston's first 4th of July so memorable!!!

Happy Independence Day!!!

We have a very busy weekend ahead of us! Weston's Aunt Eileen is coming to visit us for the first time; the pool is already calling our name; there are loads of Independence Day activities down at the Stockyards; dinners out have been planned, etc. etc. etc. Soooooooooooooooo, just in case I don't have time to put on any new blog posts over the weekend......................

4th of July = 4 Favorite Things!

In honor of the 4th of July weekend, I thought I'd post 4 of my current favorite things about Scooty Bug. Believe me, when it comes to Weston, narrowing it down to just four was NOT easy!

I love it that Weston is eating "real" food now. I get so much joy out of making all of his baby food from all organic fruits and veggies. It makes me happy to know that I am doing all that I can to make sure that he has every health advantage that I can possibly give him. So far, he has had applesauce, sweet potatoes and bananas. He's liked them all, but bananas topped his list! It is so fun to feed him - he opens his mouth up wide and just slurps it down!

Bath time with Weston still ranks high as one of my faves! That boy LOVES his bath and has learned to kick and splash until practically the whole entire room is wet - it's hilarious! Best of all, he comes out smelling incredible! I don't think that anything can beat the sweet smell of a freshly-washed baby!

The clothes..... I. just. can't. stop............shopping, that is! I adore shopping for Weston. It could be my favorite pasttime ever. Boy clothes have come soooo far since the time when my boys were little - everything now is so cute! Scooty's dresser drawers at my house are busting at the seams with adorable Scootie-Patootie clothes and I wouldn't want it any other way!

That face! From the very first moment that I laid eyes on this precious baby until now and far off into eternity, his gorgeous little face will be my forever favorite thing.

It's All Done!

If you saw my post from earlier this afternoon, you know that I had big plans for a sign in Weston's new garden. Well, it's done!!!!!

I'm soooooooooo excited about the way it turned out!

We love you Weston Scott and can't wait to watch you and your garden grow!!!

Weston's Garden!

Everyone who knows James knows that he is the BOMB at landscaping. All three of our homes have been transformed from having blah, boring yards to having beautifully manicured lawns, flower beds etc. Not only is James good at landscaping, but he really enjoys it and takes such pride in his work.

I always tease him that he literally "pets" each grass blade on a daily basis - ha! Seriously, though, everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE who comes by our house always compliments us on the yard. It makes me soooooo proud of my hard working hubby!

Since James has been on vacation this week, he decided to get busy on the right side of our house. We have had a small planter just to the side of our garage door for some time now, but he wanted to expand the beds down the entire length of the house to not only make it look better, but to disguise the air conditioning unit, hose outlet, meters etc. In just 2 short afternoons, he had it done.

It looks so pretty and really makes a difference on that side. What was once a plain strip of grass now looks BEAUTIFUL!

My favorite thing about the project is that James calls it "Weston's Garden". He says we can watch all of the plants grow right along with our sweet Scooty Bug! I think it's a GREAT idea and love that he thought of it!
